1099 / Consulting Work
Consulting is one of those things I do because someone needs me to do it. It’s expensive for the client and I despise haggling over what a job is worth. But for those who want to know… my rate is set by a combination of the rule of thirds and what I actually would have to charge to pay the bills for such things.
As a result my current rate is $100 an hour for Program Management and Software Development and Software UI / UX work (which is actually a little low I’m told). For one off work – I’m pretty flexible but if I have to go 1099 my costs pretty much are double what they are for a contracted employee. (The rule of 3rds Applies to everyone sadly.)
