Had a hankering to spend some time with the past tonight. Tends to happen as you go through boxes of old things. Sometimes you find things you’d forgotten, sometimes you forget what it was you were trying to find. Either way, in the end, there’s always something you find that you didn’t know you had.
Warren Zevon’s playing Keep Me In Your Heart, and somewhere out there tonight there’s child saying it’s not bed time yet, somewhere else – the suns going down over a beach where someone walks and contemplates their new job (‘gratz Vegas – always good to hear from ya), someplace out there someone’s writing their next great american novel, somewhere someone snores loud enough to wake the dead, somewhere there’s one more song that needs to be played, and one more beer that needs downing.
The world … keeps turning and there’s a hundred thousand stories – and what seem to be a hundred thousand smiles I’ve had the pleasure to see. It’s amazing all the things you find when you dig through boxes – mental and physical – in your attic. Occasionally … you find something new… and tonight the new is Jordan Zevon, son of Warren… and this girl.
